How it all started

The South & West Gippsland Transport Group (SWGT) began from a community meeting of over 40 people at Lang Lang on 27 April 2011, setup to discuss the return of the rail services to SW Gippsland. Attendees included the Hon. Ken Smith Speaker of the House of Assembly, Mayor Warren Raabe and Councillors from South Gippsland and Cardina Shires and various representatives from local communities.

The meeting endorsed the establishment of a working group to develop a charter and draft a strategy for a public campaign to restore the railway line and improve public and business transport accessibility.

There was a strong view that the development of such an infrastructure project would require local and government leadership.

Much has happened since then and we now require your support.
